You must become aware of the beliefs guiding your behaviors. Only after becoming aware of them can you rewrite them.

Imagine for a moment you have just fainted and slept for 5 years. When you wake up you have no clue that 5 years has passed. As far as you know, it has only been 30 minutes. So you get up and start orienting to your surroundings. You know what your mind is thinking. “What happened?”And you start to look for what is familiar around you. Because familiarity is perceived by your mind as safe. If you lack familiarity, your mind feels it lacks safety.

Now imagine for a moment that instead of fainting, a part of your mind simply stayed frozen in time, right around when you started solidifying your people pleasing behaviors that kept you alive. Your adult self doesn’t need it to survive, but your younger self still believes you need it. This is why connecting to your inner child is so important. Your inner child needs to realize on the deepest subconscious level, “I don’t have to do this anymore. I get to create a new reality.

To create this new reality will also mean learning how to rewire your nervous system patterning. Rather than perceive saying, “NO” as a threat, you can teach your nervous system how to tolerate, release, and ground the anxiety and tension you feel. A stable nervous system leads to a stable mind.
